Why Use CBD?

September 29, 2020by Jeanette KwiatkowskiNo Comments

Why Use CBD??

There are many benefits to using CBD and I will talk about those benefits with you in this post.  I will also include some of my own personal experiences from using CBD on a regular basis.

CBD Benefits for Pain Relief

There are many studies that show CBD is directly related to pain relief in the body. The body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is involved in regulating your emotions, motor control, immune system, and pain response. When the body ingests CBD, it affects the way your body perceives and responds to pain. [The endocannabinoid system (ECS) refers to a collection of cell receptors and corresponding molecules. You can think of cell receptors like little locks on the surface of your cells.]  CBD is also know for its anti inflammatory properties which also significantly reduces pain and swelling within the body.  When your body begins to feel the relief from pain and inflammation, you are able to move and resume some of your normal activities that may have been affected because of the pain your body was in.

Improved Mood, Anxiety, Stress and Depression

Similar to how CBD affects the way the body perceives and remembers pain, CBD can also change the endocannabinoid system’s response to moods disorders. CBD may help regulate serotonin and dopamine, reduce stress & anxiety, and reverse neuroinflammation often found alongside mood disorders.  Although it is very natural for our moods to fluctuate throughout the day, however, in some cases these fluctuations can be severe and can disrupt our daily day to day activities.

Improved Sleep

In many studies, the lack of sleep and insomnia can accompany anxiety, stress and over health of our bodies.  This also includes weight gain!  Using CBD has shown to be consistent with improving the quality of sleep.  As I stated above, CBD helps promote better mood, less stress and less anxiety which are all causes of poor sleep, therefore taking CBD for other reasons can also promote a better quality of sleep.

My story:  I started taking CBD almost a year ago.  I was looking for some relief from my normal joint pain caused by aging.  I did my research and finally found a CBD product that is top quality using premium hemp!  And NO, not all CBD is created equal!!  When I finally found our CBD, shortly after beginning taking the oil under my tongue twice a day (in the morning and at night) the first thing I noticed was my sleep was improving!  I was beginning to have a more restful sleep, a more solid sleep and waking up feeling rested and refreshed.  I was actually amazed!  It was a trickle affect on my body, better sleep then lead into a better mood each day and then the people around me were noticing that I appeared to be less stressed during the day.  That was huge for me because I always tend to put a lot of pressure on myself which then gave me stress and anxiety, but that also meant I was rarely in a good mood.  CBD was changing that and I was actually feeling so much better and was in a happy place!  CBD as we know now is an anti inflammatory and I began to notice or should I say not notice the pain in my joints!  This joint pain was drastically lessening and I was finding myself getting back into a daily workout routine and I was able to do this because I was not feeling the pain any longer!!  So although I began my CBD journey for the full purpose of reducing my pain, I found that I was also receiving other very important benefits too!  CBD has been a game changer for me and has definitely improved my quality of life.

Starting Your Fitness Journey

March 1, 2020by Jeanette KwiatkowskiNo Comments

Beginning your fitness journey does not have to be difficult or even time consuming.  There are many simple and easy beginner workouts that can provide good results right in the comfort of your own home.  The best part is most workouts don’t require the purchase of expensive equipment or even require gym memberships.  This means there is no real reason not to get started and begin your journey of a healthier lifestyle.  Just remember to talk with your health care provider before getting started!

Listen, any type of physical activity, whether it is walking, dancing, playing organized sports, or any other movement you choose to do will have many health and wellness benefits.  These benefits can be both physically and mentally.

Some benefits you may see and feel with regular physical activity include:

  • Mood Improvement – exercise can increase the production of endorphins in your body which can produce positive emotions and improve your mood.
  • Help with weight loss – exercise is critical in burning calories and increasing your metabolism as well as aids in maintaining your muscle mass and weight loss.
  • Supports your muscles and bones – exercise is essential in building and maintaining strong muscles and bones.
  • Increase energy – exercise has shown to be an energy booster and help with improving fatigue.
  • Improve skin health – regular exercise can promote blood flow and provide antioxidant protection that can shield your skin and even help the delay of skin aging.
  • Help with brain health and memory – regular exercise improves the blood flow in the body and to the brain.  This improved blood flow and help with your brain health and memory.
  • Improve sleep quality and relaxation – any type of regular physical activity can relax you and help you sleep better making you feel more energized during the day.

These are just a few of the benefits you can experience with committing to regular physical activity.  Exercise has the ability to improve every aspect of your life inside and out and it does not have to take expensive gym memberships or expensive equipment to achieve a better lifestyle and feel better both physically and mentally. The hardest part will be getting started!

So now what?  We all talk about the plans we have, set the date to start, we create lists, we might even lay out our workout clothes the night before, and have really good intentions to start, BUT, that planned day comes and then what?  Fear sets in right?  We begin to second guess ourselves, make excuses like I am tired, the gym will be too busy, the weather is bad, or you become self-conscious and I am sure the list goes on.  It is almost like you are feeling defeated before you even get started. Whatever it is, I am here to tell you this is all normal!  Listen, I have for the most part been pretty active my entire life, never really had a weight issue, but then life happened.  Marriage, kids, divorce then middle age and I found myself starting and stopping my fitness journey more than once.  And guess what, that is ok too!  We are not perfect, we are human and we all have our own stuff going on.  This is what I have learned over the years through my own struggles and achievements, you need to realize that no one and I mean no one can want or do this for you!  Only you can do it, you need to want it and you really need believe in yourself along with putting in the work to achieve your goal.  It is not going to be easy and if I am honest with you, it is going to be HARD (full disclosure here).  You will not see immediate results so that means you will not see anything today, tomorrow or even a week from now, but if you commit and really do this, in a few months from now you will begin to feel better than you do today, you will look and feel so much happier and you will be able to see noticeable changes in your body.

As you begin this fitness journey, don’t strive for perfection because chances are you will disappoint yourself.  Progress is what you need to look for, are you getting better than yesterday, are you being consistent, are you gaining progress toward your goal?  You will have ups and downs, good days and bad days; however it is so very important to remain positive.  Guess what?  Tomorrow is a new day, forget about the bad day and move on.  Don’t dwell on it and drag you down.  Keep going!  You got this! Along with remaining positive, you must hold yourself accountable.  This might mean scheduling time to work out, commit to not eating out each day, meal prep your lunches, create a check list; whatever it is do it and stick to it.  Your goal is to succeed so do everything in your power to be successful.  Plan your day wisely so that you can fit everything you need to into your day.  Trust me this works!!  With that said, don’t play the coulda – shoulda – woulda game with yourself.  This serves no purpose, if you make a decision not to work out or not to eat healthy just accept it, enjoy it and move on because guess what, tomorrow is another day.  Just don’t continue to do that, get back in the saddle and get back at it the next day.  Remember we are human!  Lastly you set this goal so that means it must be important for you so don’t sacrifice good habits, good form in favor of lifting heavier weights or stronger resistance.  You should want to do it the right way.  Be mindful of what you are doing and do it with purpose!

In my household, we lived by a motto and my kids still do to this day!

Dream – Believe – Achieve

Have a dream, believe in yourself and you will achieve your dream!  The same thing applies with your fitness journey, you have a dream, but you need to believe in yourself and really want it so that you can achieve it!

What is CBD

January 30, 2020by Jeanette KwiatkowskiNo Comments

What is CBD?
CBD is probably one of the most popular searchable topics on the Internet these days! It is all the rage among people of all ages who are in different stages of their lives. Joe and I began researching CBD many months ago, and like others we had many questions and uncertainties and were looking to find answers. I can tell you that we both have been pleasantly surprised with what we are finding. With that said, let’s start off with the basics and put some of the rumors you may have heard to rest.

First and foremost, The main component of CBD is Cannabis, it will not get you “high” and yes CBD Hemp Oil is LEGAL. Cannabidiol (CBD) is extracted from the hemp or cannabis plant and has gained popularity being known as the miracle cure for just about everything from anxiety and sleep disorders to improving and finding relief with aches and pains. I would even bet that you have heard about these benefits from someone you may know.

What really is CBD? It is one of several compounds known as cannabinoids from the cannabis plant. So does that mean CBD is marijuana? Well the answer is NO! See marijuana contains both THC and CBD and it is the THC that creates the “high” when it is consumed by smoking or cooking. Unlike marijuana, CBD does not change a person’s state of mind and does not create that “high” because there is zero to less than 0.3% of THC in the oil. Pretty interesting right? I was actually very surprised when I found this fact and honestly was one of the main reasons I began to try CBD.

Now you are probably thinking, how it actually works. What does it actually do? All cannabinoids, including CBD works in the body by attaching to certain receptors that are called CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mainly in the brain but can be found throughout the body. CB1 receptors in the brain deal with pain, your emotions, mood, how you think, how you move, your memory and many other functions. The CB2 receptors work with your immune system and affect inflammation and pain within your body. So when you use CBD it helps the body and many people who use CBD have found many positive benefits. Both Joe and I have been extremely happy with our results so far and I am calling it a game changer for sure! My future blogs will get into more details on the benefits we and others are seeing and feeling, but, some include better sleep, less anxiety, less depression and relief from typical aches and pains caused from arthritis. If you have been thinking about CBD and wondering if it could help you, I say “what do you have to lose?” But beware of where you are purchasing your CBD because not all CBD is the same! You really need to purchase from a reputable company that knows what they are doing. I endorse, recommend and I am an Independent Affiliate of HempWorx because of their pureness of the farms they use as well as the seal of approval they have received from the Hemp Authority.
