What is CBD?
CBD is probably one of the most popular searchable topics on the Internet these days! It is all the rage among people of all ages who are in different stages of their lives. Joe and I began researching CBD many months ago, and like others we had many questions and uncertainties and were looking to find answers. I can tell you that we both have been pleasantly surprised with what we are finding. With that said, let’s start off with the basics and put some of the rumors you may have heard to rest.
First and foremost, The main component of CBD is Cannabis, it will not get you “high” and yes CBD Hemp Oil is LEGAL. Cannabidiol (CBD) is extracted from the hemp or cannabis plant and has gained popularity being known as the miracle cure for just about everything from anxiety and sleep disorders to improving and finding relief with aches and pains. I would even bet that you have heard about these benefits from someone you may know.
What really is CBD? It is one of several compounds known as cannabinoids from the cannabis plant. So does that mean CBD is marijuana? Well the answer is NO! See marijuana contains both THC and CBD and it is the THC that creates the “high” when it is consumed by smoking or cooking. Unlike marijuana, CBD does not change a person’s state of mind and does not create that “high” because there is zero to less than 0.3% of THC in the oil. Pretty interesting right? I was actually very surprised when I found this fact and honestly was one of the main reasons I began to try CBD.
Now you are probably thinking, how it actually works. What does it actually do? All cannabinoids, including CBD works in the body by attaching to certain receptors that are called CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mainly in the brain but can be found throughout the body. CB1 receptors in the brain deal with pain, your emotions, mood, how you think, how you move, your memory and many other functions. The CB2 receptors work with your immune system and affect inflammation and pain within your body. So when you use CBD it helps the body and many people who use CBD have found many positive benefits. Both Joe and I have been extremely happy with our results so far and I am calling it a game changer for sure! My future blogs will get into more details on the benefits we and others are seeing and feeling, but, some include better sleep, less anxiety, less depression and relief from typical aches and pains caused from arthritis. If you have been thinking about CBD and wondering if it could help you, I say “what do you have to lose?” But beware of where you are purchasing your CBD because not all CBD is the same! You really need to purchase from a reputable company that knows what they are doing. I endorse, recommend and I am an Independent Affiliate of HempWorx because of their pureness of the farms they use as well as the seal of approval they have received from the Hemp Authority.
