Tip of the Day… Setting Goals.
Did you know that research has shown us that less than 10% of people who have set goals will stick to them for longer than a couple of months?
Why? Do we think people in general are lazy, have no will power or just not committed? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
The real reason is any type of change is difficult. Guess what, we are luck that there are so many different strategies that you can use to make you successful at achieving your goals and making the change a bit more easy for you.
There are so many different books out there that address goal setting and Dan and Chip Heath, who are great authors call it “shrinking the change.” This brother duo say the only to achieve goals is to break them down into smaller goals. As you begin to achieve those smaller goals, you begin to feel accomplished and will start building the momentum to keep chasing the larger goal that you set.
What we don’t want is to feel overwhelmed with our goals. When that happens, we tend to just walk away, but, when we have those tiny successful achievements and we can feel the success, it is much easier for us to keep building on that and keep the work going.
The idea is to take your goal and put it into more manageable pieces and creating several different milestones to reach. This allows you to set more realistic goals or as I like to say SMART goals. SMART stands for simple, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Doing this allows you to feel successful and making change much easier.
What do these pieces look like? How small are they? Well they are very small manageable steps to achieving the larger goal. It is important to make those smaller goals attainable so that you feel the success and want to keep going!
For example, you have a goal to become healthier by working out 4-5 days a week for 30 minutes each day. Break this down by doing some type of activity that gets your heart rate going for five minutes each day. This could be walking, jumping jacks or even knee bends, whatever it is do it for 5 minutes each day then increase your time each week by another 5 minutes and continue to do that until you reach your 30 minutes.
Maybe you want to read more, or eat better, what ever it is start by setting your goal, write it down then break it down into small manageable pieces. Be specific, make it measurable and set a time limit to achieve your larger goal by.
What are your goals? Let’s get started!
There are many benefits to using CBD and I will talk about those benefits with you in this post. I will also include some of my own personal experiences from using CBD on a regular basis.
CBD Benefits for Pain Relief
There are many studies that show CBD is directly related to pain relief in the body. The body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is involved in regulating your emotions, motor control, immune system, and pain response. When the body ingests CBD, it affects the way your body perceives and responds to pain. [The endocannabinoid system (ECS) refers to a collection of cell receptors and corresponding molecules. You can think of cell receptors like little locks on the surface of your cells.] CBD is also know for its anti inflammatory properties which also significantly reduces pain and swelling within the body. When your body begins to feel the relief from pain and inflammation, you are able to move and resume some of your normal activities that may have been affected because of the pain your body was in.
Improved Mood, Anxiety, Stress and Depression
Similar to how CBD affects the way the body perceives and remembers pain, CBD can also change the endocannabinoid system’s response to moods disorders. CBD may help regulate serotonin and dopamine, reduce stress & anxiety, and reverse neuroinflammation often found alongside mood disorders. Although it is very natural for our moods to fluctuate throughout the day, however, in some cases these fluctuations can be severe and can disrupt our daily day to day activities.
Improved Sleep
In many studies, the lack of sleep and insomnia can accompany anxiety, stress and over health of our bodies. This also includes weight gain! Using CBD has shown to be consistent with improving the quality of sleep. As I stated above, CBD helps promote better mood, less stress and less anxiety which are all causes of poor sleep, therefore taking CBD for other reasons can also promote a better quality of sleep.
My story: I started taking CBD almost a year ago. I was looking for some relief from my normal joint pain caused by aging. I did my research and finally found a CBD product that is top quality using premium hemp! And NO, not all CBD is created equal!! When I finally found our CBD, shortly after beginning taking the oil under my tongue twice a day (in the morning and at night) the first thing I noticed was my sleep was improving! I was beginning to have a more restful sleep, a more solid sleep and waking up feeling rested and refreshed. I was actually amazed! It was a trickle affect on my body, better sleep then lead into a better mood each day and then the people around me were noticing that I appeared to be less stressed during the day. That was huge for me because I always tend to put a lot of pressure on myself which then gave me stress and anxiety, but that also meant I was rarely in a good mood. CBD was changing that and I was actually feeling so much better and was in a happy place! CBD as we know now is an anti inflammatory and I began to notice or should I say not notice the pain in my joints! This joint pain was drastically lessening and I was finding myself getting back into a daily workout routine and I was able to do this because I was not feeling the pain any longer!! So although I began my CBD journey for the full purpose of reducing my pain, I found that I was also receiving other very important benefits too! CBD has been a game changer for me and has definitely improved my quality of life.
What are you waiting for? You won't be sorry!
